Rocky Mountain Motorsports Memberships - A Country Club for the Rest of Us

In 2011, the city of Calgary saw the closure of Race City Motorsports Park, leaving a frustrated void in the lives of anyone who frequented the place. Shortly after it shuttered, enthusiasts were buzzing about alternative track concepts being discussed at the time by big-hitters in the community. One concept had a road course and drag strip next door to Balzac's CrossIron Mills mall, another was a drag strip near Brooks, and a variety of other ideas circled the drain and eventually sunk.

This is where RMM (Rocky Mountain Motorsports) stepped in. If you are part of the motorsports scene in Alberta, you already know about Rocky Mountain Motorsports new track; a clean and ultra-modern $35 million (up to this point) installation surgically sewn into a vast swath of land 25 minutes North of Calgary near Carstairs, Alberta. This track has been part of the conversation amongst motorcycle and car enthusiasts alike, surviving the early buzz, and being brought to life for an anticipated Spring 2022 Grand Opening.

If you were a drag racer, you had Medicine Hat, Edmonton, Kelowna, or Mission, and later Rimbey and Forestberg. Most of these locations were 3+ hours away, making your Friday afternoon an often frustrating scramble to get out the door. Unfortunately due to contract clauses with the county, getting the deal done meant excluding a drag strip. 

If you were a road course junky, you had Edmonton or Area 27 in the South Okanagan. If you had a few million in the bank and a separate corporation, well none of this mattered, because you left your entire race program in Colorado or Arizona at your buddy's shop and flew in anyway. We ain't all like that. 

That's where RMM stepped in. For the time being, you need a membership to gain access to the facilities. They are available in limited quantities, and pricing is expected to change soon.

A Gold Membership is available for an initiation fee of $45,000+ ongoing annual membership dues (TBD). Gold gets you access to all of the member track events, facility usage, and a few passes for friends.

Platinum Membership comes in at $60,000. This package provides the user with full facility access, platinum-segmented track times, private member track days, eight one-time guest passes, second-right access to track condos/garages, a free annual training session, and a pile of valuable discounts.

The final tier is an investor-level Diamond Membership. Currently $250,000, you are provided with common shares, designated associate members, major discounts on track rentals, first-choice of private track condos/garages, no annual fees, and a host of other benefits for buying in at this level. Understandably, there's a catch: proof-of-funds will be necessary before seeing the books.
